Special sale attracts South Australian buyers

By Lyndsey Douglas

Ray White Livestock Albury held a special cattle sale this month in response to the ongoing dry conditions in Deepwater.

1500 weaners were lined up at the sale, all from one vendor: Narrie Holdings Pty Ltd from Deepwater NSW, the Newsome Family.

“It certainly drew some interest,” principal of Ray White Rural and Livestock Albury, James Brown said, “with sales to very good demand from the local area and interstate and about 30 per cent going back into SA. Thankfully they are getting good rain and set up for a good spring in that state.”

Key buyers included PPHS Ash Braun, Unthank and Corcoran Parker, along with other local interest.

The first pen of heifers went for $700 for a run of 76 heifers, averaging 228kg, achieving $3.05 per kilogram.

The first 100 steers sold for $820 to Mr Proctor through Brain Unthank Rural, for a local restocked these steers avg 219kg,

The third run of steers sold to $655 twice with PPHS picking up 59 steers in the first run and Brain Unthank picking up the next 60.

120 heifers in a run went to South Australia through PPHS at $565 for $3.24 avg 171kg.
